KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 6): Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) here at 9.30am today after reportedly falling at his residence earlier in the morning.

The matter was confirmed by his press secretary, Sufi Yusoff, via a message shared on the official “Dr M Media Updates” WhatsApp group today.

Sufi said the 100-year-old statesman was taken to IJN by ambulance and was reported to be conscious.

“He had a fall early this morning, and normally that requires an observation in hospital. He fell transiting from one part of the balcony to the living room, as I was made to understand,” he said.

Sufi said an update on Dr Mahathir’s current condition will be provided after examinations by IJN specialists are completed.

The former fourth and seventh prime minister was previously treated at IJN on July 13, 2025, due to fatigue, but was discharged on the same day.
