Firefighters carry the victim’s body out of the river at Kampung Lebak Engad in Kota Belud.

KOTA MARUDU (Jan 15): A 55-year-old man who was reported missing since Monday was found dead in a river at Kampung Lebak Engad, here on Wednesday.

Kota Belud fire station chief Elge Bakuk said villagers discovered the victim’s body in the river around 4.13pm, about two kilometres from where he was last seen.

He said the body was carried to the riverbank before being handed to the police for further action.

The victim was last seen leaving his home at 6am on Monday to collect his medicine from the Kota Belud hospital.

The victim was said to have suffered from mental illness and held a person-with-disability card.
