Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg commenced his official working visit to China with a significant dialogue session with the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government in Nanjing. This meeting marks the beginning of a series of discussions aimed at fostering collaboration.
According to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Abang Johari, accompanied by his delegation, arrived at 11:15 AM local time and was warmly welcomed by Vice Governor Zhao Jianjun, who represented Governor Liu Xiaotao.
Key Delegates and Objectives
Among those accompanying the Premier were Deputy Minister for Utility (Sarawak Energy Berhad and Petros) Datuk Ibrahim Baki; Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros) chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Hamid Bugo; and Petros Group chief executive officer Datuk Janin Girie, alongside other representatives from Petros.
The dialogue was a continuation of the Strategic Cooperation Agreement established between Petros and the China Jiangsu International Economic and Technical Cooperation Group Ltd (CJI), focusing on the development of the Kuching Low Carbon Hub (KLCH).
Vision for Sustainable Development
The KLCH is a flagship project under the Sarawak Gas Masterplan, designed to promote sustainable and high-value industrial growth within the state.
This initiative is seen as a transformative approach that will pave the way for Sarawak’s low-carbon policy to create new economic opportunities for its citizens.
Envisioned as a state-of-the-art industrial park, the KLCH aims to integrate high-technology manufacturing, clean energy, data-driven operations, and a comprehensive low-carbon industrial ecosystem.
