JOHOR BAHRU (Dec 28): A weak earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale was detected in Bukit Kepong, Pagoh at 8.55am today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the tremor was centred at coordinates 2.4 degrees North and 102 degrees East, at a depth of 10 kilometres.
“The quake, located 16 kilometres southwest of Pagoh, poses no tsunami threat to Malaysia,” MetMalaysia said in a Facebook post.
Meanwhile, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the situation is under control, with no reports of casualties or property damage.
He added that the state government is closely monitoring the situation with the relevant agencies.
He advised the public to remain calm, stay away from unstable structures, and follow instructions from the authorities.
