The Sarikei Unity Run 7.0, organised by the Sarikei District Office, attracted a vibrant crowd of 2,345 participants in a recent event.
Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, Datuk Len Talif Salleh, officially started the event.
Event Highlights
In the 10km category, there were 486 competitors, with 288 men and 198 women participating. The most popular segment was the 3km Fun Run, which had the largest turnout of 1,859 participants.
Sarikei Resident Datu Micheal Ronnie Langgong remarked on the event’s ongoing success and growth since 2022.
Community Engagement
“The encouraging growth in participation clearly reflects our community’s strong support for programmes that foster unity, healthy living, and togetherness among people of different backgrounds,” he commented in a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas).
The festive atmosphere was not limited to the run itself.
The first-ever ‘Christmas Breakfast and Fair’ at the Sarikei Civic Centre welcomed numerous visitors and showcased 60 stalls at the Doremart Christmas Fair.
Activities and Entertainment
This event offered a significant opportunity for local traders to enhance their earnings.
The day was further enhanced by various activities, including a pickleball competition, a talent show, and an eating contest.
