A total of RM525,910 in Minor Rural Project (MRP) allocations has been distributed to 71 community organisations, associations, and religious bodies in Miri.

The funds are part of an ongoing initiative aimed at supporting grassroots programmes that promote unity, community wellbeing, and public service.

Supporting Local Communities

During the allocation presentation on Saturday, State Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin emphasized that these annual grants are designed to empower local groups to engage in meaningful activities that enhance social harmony.

“These organisations play a vital role in fostering unity and inclusiveness within our multiracial and multireligious society,” remarked the Senadin assemblyman.

Encouraging Engagement

He further noted that this financial assistance – which represents the final batch of his MRP allocations for the year – acknowledges the ongoing contributions of these groups and encourages them to remain actively involved in serving their communities.

Lee highlighted the important role that the recipients play in advancing Sarawak’s vision of inclusive growth.

In his address, the state minister urged the public to uphold Sarawak’s cherished values of tolerance, mutual respect, and shared celebration among its diverse communities.
