Repair work on the collapsed section of the road at Lorong Taman APT 2 is currently in progress, with the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) actively supervising the project.
According to a statement from MPKS, they are maintaining constant communication with the designated contractor to accelerate the repairs, emphasizing the importance of safety and convenience for residents in the affected area.
Investigation and Cause of Damage
The road collapse was a result of investigations that uncovered cracks along Jalan Datuk Mohd Musa, which is located next to a monsoon drain.
The damage is thought to have been triggered by intense water flow from twin culverts at the Muara Tuang Army Camp, which compromised the structural integrity of the drain wall.
Before commencing the repair work, MPKS conducted several site visits, placed warning signs and safety tape, and engaged with local residents to inform them about the situation and the interim safety measures while technical evaluations were being carried out.
Commitment to Public Safety
The council has reiterated its dedication to ensuring that the repairs are executed smoothly and efficiently, and has requested the continued cooperation of the public during this project.
“Public cooperation is crucial to facilitate the smooth execution of the repair works,” stated MPKS, adding that they will closely monitor the progress of the repairs until they are completed.
The issue gained attention on December 16, when Michael Kong, the special assistant to Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen, urged authorities to take swift action regarding the sinking road, highlighting escalating safety concerns and calling for a more proactive response from the relevant authorities.
