Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros) is set to maintain a close partnership with Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) to enhance the oil and gas sector in Sarawak, ensuring sustainable growth for both the state and the country.
The Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, emphasized that this collaboration is vital, as Petronas has long been a significant contributor to national progress, particularly in sectors that directly affect the lives of the people.
Collaboration for Future Development
“We are optimistic that with Petros’ presence in Sarawak, our joint efforts with Petronas will further boost activities and advancements in the oil and gas industry, especially within the state,” he stated during the ‘Petronas Pre-Christmas and Back to School 2025’ event held on Thursday.
Awang Tengah, who holds the roles of State Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment, as well as Second State Minister of Urban Development and Natural Resources, highlighted Petronas’s essential role not only in industrial development but also in cultivating human capital. This includes fostering numerous skilled workers and entrepreneurs from Sarawak.
Community Engagement Initiatives
As part of their community outreach efforts, a total of 350 recipients from 34 villages surrounding Lawas received food basket donations, while 325 students from five schools benefited from school supplies.
The assistance for students was presented by Awang Tengah to the Lawas District Education officer, Pengiran Abdul Kadir Pengiran Budin.
Among those present at the event were Lawas MP Dato Henry Sum Agong, Batu Danau assemblyman Datuk Paulus Palu Gumbang, Petronas Carigali (Sarawak Assets) general manager Chin Wee Yang, Petronas Sarawak general manager Norazibah Md Rabu, and Malaysia Petroleum Management general manager M Abshar M Nor.
