SIBU (Dec 13): Children from orphanages under the Orphans Welfare Organisation of Malaysia (Peryatim) were treated to a tea party at KFC outlet here last weekend.

The event was hosted by the Sibu branch of the National Association of Life Insurance and Family Takaful Advisors (Namlifa).

Organising chairwoman Catherine Huang said the programme was part of the association’s ongoing social commitment to support the less fortunate during the year-end festive season.

“Every year, we organise similar charitable activities for selected groups from the underprivileged community.

“We hope to bring joy and laughter to the children as we celebrate the festive cheer together,” she added.

Huang added that branch committee members also volunteered to assist with the event, where the children received sponsored goodies bags and stationery packs.

To enliven the occasion further, an orchestra performance was also held, adding merriment to the Christmas atmosphere.
