SIBU (April 5): The police arrested a 25-year-old foreign man in two separate raids conducted on Saturday and early Sunday, seizing narcotics valued at more than RM170,000.
Sibu police chief ACP Azari Miskon said that the first raid was carried out at 11.30pm along Jalan Pahlawan by officers from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID).
“During the operation, police seized 272.02 grammes of juice powder believed to be a mixture containing ecstasy, as well as 2.78 grammes of ketamine, with an estimated value of RM5,450,” Azari said in a statement.
A second raid was conducted at 12.30am on Sunday at a house in Lorong Kiew Nang, where officers uncovered a significantly larger quantity of drugs.
“The seizure included 1,089.79 grammes of ketamine, 4,509 grammes of juice powder suspected to be ecstasy, and 890 Erimin 5 pills weighing 278.51 grammes,” he said.
The total value of drugs seized in the second operation was estimated at RM164,695.
Azari said the suspect, who has no prior criminal record, has been remanded for seven days to assist in investigations.
He added that the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment upon conviction.
Police also reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying enforcement efforts against drug trafficking and abuse, urging the public to provide information on drug-related activities via the NCID hotline at 012-2087222 (Bukit Aman) or NCID Sarawak (017-5922211).
