A team from the Samalaju fire station successfully evacuated eight flood victims from three families during a recent operation at SK Kampung Nyalau.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre reported that a distress call was received at 8:34 AM, prompting immediate action.

Rescue Operations

Firefighters were quickly deployed to the scene, which is located about 15 kilometers from their station. Operations commander Irwin Abidin, who also serves as the chief of the Samalaju fire station, confirmed that all victims were safely transported out of the flooded area using a rescue boat.

The group of rescued individuals included three adult men, three adult women, and two children, all of whom were in need of urgent assistance.

Post-Rescue Care

Irwin further stated that the victims would be temporarily housed with nearby relatives until the situation stabilizes.

Fortunately, weather conditions were clear and the water remained calm throughout the operation, facilitating the rescue efforts. Additionally, police personnel were present at the site to provide further assistance.
