Senari Synergy Sdn Bhd has reaffirmed its dedication to environmental sustainability by organizing the Waste for Cash Campaign at the Senari Synergy Industrial Complex along Jalan Bako. This initiative took place on a Saturday, designed to promote proper waste disposal and responsible environmental behavior in accordance with the company’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) agenda and sustainable development goals.

The one-day event, which ran from 9 am to 3 pm, was executed in partnership with Trienekens for the collection of electronic waste and Kim Huang Enterprise for a buy-back program of used cooking oil. The primary goal of this initiative was to mitigate illegal dumping while encouraging recycling and resource recovery among employees, tenants, and nearby communities in Muara Tebas and Demak Laut.

Encouraging Community Involvement

Group managing director Datuk Jefri Ahmad Tambi emphasized the significance of shared responsibility in safeguarding the environment while providing practical incentives for public involvement. “This campaign not only raises awareness about proper waste disposal but also empowers communities to convert their waste into cash,” he stated, highlighting the crucial role of collaboration with Trienekens and Kim Huang Enterprise in achieving success.

Senari Synergy remarked that this campaign is part of a larger effort to instill long-term behavioral changes towards responsible waste management and to support a circular economy.

Strengthening Environmental Stewardship

This initiative is also a vital component of the group’s ESG strategy, aimed at enhancing environmental stewardship and fostering a culture of sustainability among employees, tenants of the industrial complex, and the surrounding communities.

The Senari Synergy Industrial Complex accommodates various significant developments, such as an independent oil terminal for bulk petroleum storage, bitumen storage facilities, LPG bottling plants, and PME biodiesel storage.

Additionally, it features a palm oil refinery, a refined oil packaging plant, as well as oil, gas, and chemicals port facilities. The campaign concluded with strong community participation, highlighting the effectiveness of collaboration between industry players and the public in promoting sustainable waste management practices.
