Menurut kenyataan Pejabat Daerah Miri, Jabatan Bekalan Elektrik Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) Cawangan Miri melaksanakan tindakan itu pada jam 9.30 pagi setelah menerima notis rasmi daripada pihak berkuasa. Kesemua premis terbabit dipercayai menawarkan pelbagai jenis pertaruhan haram seperti ‘4D’ dan judi bola.

Encik Ahmad Syakir, Pegawai Penguatkuasa Daerah, menjelaskan operasi ini dijalankan susulan pemantauan rapi oleh pihaknya bersama polis dan Majlis Bandaraya Miri sejak beberapa minggu lalu. “Kami telah mengumpul bukti mencukupi bahawa premis-premis ini tidak mempunyai sebarang lesen sah. Diharap tindakan memutuskan bekalan elektrik ini menunjukkan kesungguhan pihak berkuasa dalam membanteras kegiatan haram,” katanya.

Serentak itu, laporan polis telah dibuat untuk siasatan lanjut terhadap pemilik premis yang didapati melanggar Akta Rumah Judi Terbuka 1953 serta peraturan bekalan elektrik.
