Balai Ringin, located near Serian, is poised for a remarkable transformation as plans for a new township are set in motion, according to Dato Peter Minos, chairman of the Serian District Council (MDS).

He emphasized that the new township will celebrate the rich traditional culture of the Iban community in Balai Ringin, highlighting that the initiative has garnered enthusiastic support from local residents.

Community Impact

According to Minos, this new development represents a significant advancement for the region, which has traditionally served as a popular rest stop for travelers journeying from Serian to Sri Aman.

He acknowledged the efforts of Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Snowdan Lawan, who is also the assemblyman for Balai Ringin, for his dedicated lobbying to bring the township plan to fruition.

Support from the Council

In addition to the development, Minos mentioned that MDS is committed to supporting the initiative by enhancing existing infrastructure, including upgrades to the local market and various public facilities.

“The community is thrilled about the upcoming township. For them, it represents something truly beneficial, and they express their gratitude to YB Datuk Snowdan for his efforts. I share in their happiness,” he stated.

Furthermore, Minos noted that Balai Ringin is renowned for its fresh river fish, lobsters, and vegetables, making it a popular stop for motorists traveling along the route.
