The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) declared that, with immediate effect, all diesel sales restrictions in Sabah, Sarawak and the Federal Territory of Labuan are removed.
Beginning early last month, motorists and commercial operators in these three regions were limited to daily diesel allowances to curb panic buying and hoarding amid distribution issues. With stock levels at depots improving and tanker deliveries to retail stations becoming more reliable, the ministry now affirms that East Malaysia has adequate diesel supplies.
Under the new directive:
β’ Private motorists and authorised commercial users can purchase unlimited diesel daily at any station in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan.
β’ Fishing vessel operators, palm oil estates, logging and construction firms, as well as municipal and forestry machinery, may again obtain diesel in volumes matching their operational needsβno prior approval required.
β’ Retail outlets must still supply the 10% biodiesel blend (B10) for road transport, while industrial users continue to have access to higher-concentration diesel (up to 99%).
KPDN also urged petroleum distributors and station operators to comply fully with price controls under the Automated Enforcement System and to report any supply disruptions immediately. Compliance teams will patrol key routes and inspect fuel availability at participating stations, ensuring uninterrupted diesel access for motorists and businesses throughout East Malaysia.
