MIRI: In conjunction with Operation Coleoptera, Sarawak police detained two men – one named as the mastermind behind a local narcotics network – during a series of coordinated raids across Miri last night.
According to Miri district police chief ACP Dev Kumar, officers first descended on a rented room in Tudan, apprehending a 34-year-old individual suspected of directing the gang’s operations. A subsequent search at a residence in Senadin resulted in the arrest of a 29-year-old man believed to be the supplier of methamphetamine and ecstasy to the syndicate.
In total, authorities recovered:
• 3.2 kg of crystal meth (“syabu”)
• 150 MDMA tablets (“ecstasy”)
• RM18,500 in cash
ACP Dev Kumar said both suspects will be remanded for further proceedings under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. “This operation has dealt a significant blow to an organization that has been inundating Miri’s streets with hazardous substances,” he added.
The police chief also thanked members of the public who provided crucial intelligence, stressing that community cooperation is essential in combating the drug trade. A full investigation remains ongoing.
