Pasukan Maritim Malaysia berjaya menahan rampasan bahan api seludup bernilai hampir RM35,000 sewaktu operasi rondaan di perairan Sarawak kelmarin.

Menurut Komander Operasi Maritim Zon Maritim Barat Laut Sarawak, Kepten Maritim Khairul Azlan Ahmad, rondaan dijalankan sekitar jam 3 petang berhampiran perairan Tanjung Datu apabila dua lelaki tempatan berusia lingkungan 30-an dikesan memunggah tong-tong berisi bahan api ke atas sebuah bot kecil tanpa nombor pendaftaran sah.

“Apabila bot itu dihampiri, anggota pemeriksa menemui 50 tong plastik berkapasiti 40 liter setiap satu, dianggarkan berjumlah 2,000 liter diesel,” jelasnya dalam kenyataan media hari ini. “Nilai pasaran semasa rampasan tersebut dianggarkan RM34,800.”

Suspek, yang tidak dapat mengemukakan dokumen sah berkaitan pemilikan dan pengangkutan bahan api, kini ditahan untuk siasatan lanjut mengikut Seksyen 41 Akta Kawalan Bekalan 1961. Bot serta semua barangan rampasan dibawa ke Jeti Maritim Kuching untuk tindakan selanjutnya.

Khairul Azlan turut menyatakan, tidak menolak kemungkinan operasi ini berkait sindiket penyeludupan bahan api merentas sempadan, yang kerap menjejaskan hasil negara dan mengganggu aktiviti ekonomi sah di kawasan pesisir.
