KUCHING (Feb 27): A 67-year-old man died after he was crushed by a concrete block used for load testing at a construction site near SK Sageng in Simunjan this afternoon.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) dispatched personnel from the Simunjan fire station after receiving a call at 2.08pm.

“The incident involved an adult male victim, a construction site worker, who was crushed by a concrete block used for load testing on the ground surface at a construction site.

“Bomba personnel extricated the deceased’s body from beneath the concrete structure and handed it over to the police for further action,” Bomba said in a statement.

The operation ended at 2.48pm.
