
Firefighters assess the situation upon arrival.
BINTULU (Dec 28): Two people were injured after a five-tone lorry, which was not carrying any cargo, skidded off the road approximately 15 metres from the Selungun roundabout in Samalaju on Saturday.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they were notified about the incident at 9.16pm and five firefighters from the Samalaju fire station were dispatched to the scene.
“Upon arrival, firefighters found that two victims were involved in the incident. One victim had managed to move to a safe area by the roadside, while the other was found lying at the rear of the lorry in a semi-conscious condition
“The operation commander conducted a size-up at the scene and instructed that initial treatment be administered to the injured victim before the victim was safely extricated,” it said.
Both victims were later handed over to the paramedics for further medical treatment.
Firefighters returned to the station after ensuring the situation at the scene was safe.
