Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor has instructed the 18 newly appointed Political Secretaries to ensure that information regarding the State Government’s initiatives and policies reaches the grassroots.

“The duties of a political secretary are very important in our administration system. I want all political secretaries to assist the government and their respective ministers, particularly in disseminating government policies.

Importance of Communication

“Importantly, in providing information about the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 which begins next year,” he stated during the swearing-in ceremony of the new political secretaries at Menara Kinabalu.

He noted that during the last State General Election, many individuals were unaware of the initiatives and assistance provided by the government, despite extensive publicity through various media platforms.

For example, he mentioned that the recognition of the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) by the State Government and the fact that 39 holders of this certificate have been awarded government scholarships were not known to the Chinese community.

Addressing Concerns

“I was surprised that many from the Chinese community did not know what the State Government has done,” he remarked, highlighting the significant assistance provided to Chinese schools and non-Muslim religious bodies.

He was perplexed as to why these communities were unaware of the unprecedented assistance allocated by the (GRS-led) State Government, which totaled over RM1.3 billion for education and human capital development.

Other forms of assistance included free laptops, one-off university enrollment fee payments, subsidies for university students returning to their hometowns, and support for those taking the SPM examination each year.

Call to Action

“All these have never been done before,” he emphasized, urging the political secretaries to disseminate this critical information to the public.

“We want the people to receive accurate information on the initiatives taken by the State government to avoid accusations of making empty promises,”

he added.

The Chief Minister also mentioned that the State Government is considering requests from opposition Members of the State Legislative Assembly for assistance in the form of office management allocations, stating that it will be evaluated by the Finance Minister.

Upholding Integrity

“As a fair government, we will consider this,” he affirmed, while advising political secretaries to avoid abusing their positions for personal agendas.

“I expect the political secretaries to fulfill their responsibilities diligently and assist their respective ministers and the government,”

he stressed, warning that any betrayal of trust would not be tolerated.

The new political secretaries in the Chief Minister’s Department include Azrul Ibrahim (Chief Political Secretary), Datuk Effendi Mohamed Sunoh, Datuk Mazlan @ Joehari Manan, Datuk Arthur Sen, Datuk Norazlinah Arif, Datuk Lahirul Latigu, Noorazmahirah Noorzain, and Mohd Isquzawan Israq Arsit.
