MIRI: Miri police detained two local men yesterday linked to a series of house burglaries. District police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah stated that the operation was initiated following homeowners’ complaints of stolen cash, jewelry and electronic devices over the previous fortnight.

Utilizing CCTV footage and witness accounts, detectives located the suspects—both aged around 30—at a leased shop in Pujut. In the course of the search, officials seized various items thought to be looted, such as watches, mobile phones and home appliances. The duo reportedly confessed to trespassing into three separate residences between the end of May and early June.

They have been remanded for five days under Section 379 of the Penal Code to allow further investigations. ACP Lim noted that the police are still identifying other potential victims and called on anyone with relevant information to get in touch.
