Ngieng, who embarked on her officiating journey in 2016 after completing a certificate course with the Football Association of Malaysia, was chosen by the SEA Games Organising Committee to join the match officials panel in Phnom Penh. Her selection marks the first time a Sarawakian woman has taken charge in the centre at a major regional football event.

“I am proud to represent Sarawak on such a grand stage,” Mandy said after overseeing her debut match, a 2-1 win for Vietnam over Laos. “I hope my example shows other women that dedication and continuous learning can open doors to opportunities.”
