A crowd of more than 5,000 people gathered at Dataran Pehin Setia Raja for the Mukah Christmas Festival Parade 2025 on Saturday.
The festival was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Mukah MP Dato Hanifah Hajar Taib.
Celebration and Cultural Unity
The massive turnout transformed the public square into a lively hub of celebration, as attendees enjoyed a wide range of cultural performances and entertainment, creating an early and vibrant Christmas atmosphere.
A key highlight of the opening ceremony was a three-kilometre parade led by Hanifah as a symbolic launch of the festival.
Community Involvement
The parade featured thousands of participants from 15 contingents, representing diverse communities, organisations, and cultural backgrounds.
The programme showcased the strength of racial and cultural unity in Sarawak, particularly in Mukah, a district home to more than 27 ethnic groups who coexist peacefully despite differences in culture, language, religion, and way of life.
“Mutual respect and acceptance of religious and cultural diversity are essential foundations for social harmony,” Hanifah stressed in her officiating address.
She added that the overwhelming turnout at the festival clearly demonstrated how unity and togetherness continue to thrive in Mukah, setting an example for Sarawak and the nation as a whole.
