Seni Kita, the annual local community-driven arts festival, is back this weekend with an exciting theme: ‘Jungle of Light’.
This vibrant event is hosted at HAUS KCH in the Yun Phin Building on Jalan Padungan, running today and tomorrow from 3pm to 10pm.
Festival Highlights
“Seni Kita is a quarterly arts festival organized by HAUS KCH that showcases creative entrepreneurs and talents from various artistic disciplines.
This series promises immersive and interactive experiences for the public.
Supported by the ‘Arts for All Seasons’ (ArtsFAS) grant from Yayasan Hasanah for the 2025 cycle, this edition is sure to captivate attendees,” stated Syed Rusydie Syed Habib, the managing director of HAUS KCH.
Entry to the festival is free.
Artisan Market and Collaborations
The beloved artisan market, ‘Pasa Seni Kita’, will feature 32 local vendors.
This bazaar is divided into two locations: 29 vendors at HAUS KCH and three vendors at the Kuching Comic Con 2025, which is also held this weekend at Pullman Hotel Kuching.
From food and beverages to handmade goods, art prints, and wearable accessories, visitors can explore a wide variety of offerings,” said Syed Rusydie.
Additionally, Seni Kita’s annual collaborator, the Goethe-Institute Malaysia, returns to celebrate its 15th anniversary with the ‘Science Film Festival’ screening.
Engaging Activities
“Everyone is invited to enjoy a curated selection of 37 films aimed at family edutainment, covering themes such as ecology, culture, history, and technology,” mentioned Syed Rusydie.
For those interested in poetry and spoken word, Wordsmiths of Kuching will host a ‘Word of Mouth: BorNeon’ session, encouraging participants to reflect on modernity versus tradition.
This event will take place tonight at 8pm and is open to anyone wishing to share their work.
Special Features
“Those interested in participating are encouraged to register in advance by messaging @wordofmouthkuching or @hauskch on Instagram,” Syed Rusydie added.
The Mighty Desk segment will highlight experimental sound practitioner Hasnizam Abdul Wahid, whose work explores electroacoustic music and computer technology.
However, this segment is limited to 30 attendees, with tickets priced at RM25 per person, which includes a drink. It will be held on Sunday from 8pm to 10pm.
